Two things about this that stand out is the fact that Marklin made beautiful toys and hence why so well thought of in the toy world and secondly that the model itself is based on a truly fascinating idea. The Schienenzeppelin or rail zeppelin was an experimental railcar which resembled a Zeppelin airship in appearance. It was designed and developed by the German aircraft engineer Franz Kruckenberg in 1929. Marklin celebrated this with this model toy. We were extremely happy to purchase this example of the toy as it still works and is in such a good condition.
